Outdoors Tips with John Felsher

An outdoorsman since he was in diapers, John N. Felsher provides on-air fishing and hunting tips among other things. He’s a full-time professional freelance writer, editor and photographer with credits in more than 155 magazines, plus numerous newspapers and websites. Originally from Louisiana, Felsher began to write professionally as a 16-year-old junior in high school when he became the outdoors editor for a daily newspaper in his hometown of Slidell, La., and hasn’t stop writing ever since. Felsher served as the outdoors editor for three other daily newspapers in Louisiana and a chain of weekly newspapers in Arkansas. He also served on the editorial staff of three outdoors magazines and hosted live outdoors radio shows in Louisiana and Alabama.

Felsher attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After graduation, he served 12 years as a U.S. Air Force officer until honorably discharged as a captain in September 1996. Felsher currently lives in Semmes, Ala., but continues to hunt and fish wherever and whenever he can. He’ll be calling back to the station periodically with reports of his travels.
